Donald Chump eats his own.

Well, Chump # 1 has made chum of Chump # 3. (And before you ask, surely Ivanka is Chump # 2 of this family of Chumps? After all she, not Don Jr., was daddy's 'hot' seat warmer at last week's G20 summit.)

But now slick-haired, over-groomed #3, Don Jr., whom you might buy a used car from but would hesitate to drive over a bridge (as they used to say about Teddy Kennedy in his careless, homicidal Mary Jo Kopechne days) is flickering like a 40 watt bulb trying to floodlight Friday night at an Iowan college football game.

You have to believe that there have been few mornings when Don Jr. hasn't woken up thinking his last name is anything but a gift ('I'm a Trump, I'm a Trump, I'm a Very Important Trump!') Yet since Saturday, when the NY TIMES broke the story of his meeting with a Russian attorney/babe, every dawn must seem bloody.

To be fair (but why?) Don Jr. has now admitted - as the presses started to unspool his indiscretion and digi-world world burped with the news - it was a meeting which he, Jared the Undead, and the rouble-rich Manafort, shouldn't have taken. When asked if he'd told his father about it, the scion replied 'there was nothing to tell.' Hmm, an interesting choice of words, a kind of non-denial denial. Or, as the Huffington Post punned, 'scion's fiction'.

And the broker of this encounter ? A chunky music impresario and 'Miss Universe' fixer named Goldstone. Who he? Just part of the cast of Ripley's 'Believe or Not' characters that populate the Trump Underneath.

What to do? I know, Don Jr., reach for the Underneath and pull out, as your defense lawyer, a guy who usually goes to bat for New York mobsters. Excellent choice, Chump.

Matters have become so volcanic that Chump Snr has had to assure the Twitterverse that his son is 'a high quality person' - which makes him sound like a sink disposal unit that comes with a 90 day warranty.

Meanwhile, the Putin ('it's an honor to be with you') lackey in the White House goes on repeating that the Russian inquiry is a fake news 'political witch hunt.'

More like a nest of Russian dolls. We just unscrewed the first one, nyet?
